Overview

Supports the development and market acceleration of innovative advanced materials and chemicals through digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and digital tools. Targets consortia aiming to enhance risk assessment, operationalise the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework, and validate materials in realistic conditions.

Who Can Apply

Consortia of legal entities established in eligible countries, including businesses, research organisations, and public bodies. Entities directly or indirectly controlled by China are excluded.

Funding Details

Maximum grant amount: 13,000,000 EUR. Funding rate and co-funding requirements are not specified.

What Is Funded

  • Development of digital tools and workflows (e.g., AI, self-driving labs, design of experiment/simulation) to accelerate materials and chemical discovery.
  • Demonstrators validating materials in realistic conditions.
  • Risk assessment innovations, new test methods, and operationalisation of the SSbD framework.
  • Interoperable workflows based on shared standards and ontologies, ensuring FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data and tools.
  • Collaboration with initiatives like Materials Commons for Europe or DIGIPASS.
  • Business case and exploitation strategy development.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Activities must start at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 and achieve TRL 7 by project completion. Proposals must target TRLs 7–9.

  • Exclusive licensing or transfer of ownership of results may be restricted for up to 4 years post-project.
