Overview

Funding for research and innovation projects that empower persons with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in society. Targets researchers, policymakers, healthcare providers, and disability organizations developing solutions across health, technology, and community support.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants include legal entities (e.g., universities, research institutions, SMEs, public bodies, NGOs) from EU Member States, Associated Countries, and the United States. Consortia involving disability organizations, healthcare providers, and policymakers are encouraged.

Funding Details

  • Maximum grant amount: €11,000,000
  • Funding is provided as a lump sum.

What Is Funded

Projects must address at least three of the following areas:
  • Health-related research on disabilities, including causes, treatments, and assistive technologies.
  • Support for children, young people transitioning to adulthood, and older persons with disabilities.
  • Access to habilitation/rehabilitation services, including assistive technologies.
  • Prevention of disabilities across the life course (e.g., nutrition, physical activity, risk factor detection).
  • Transition from institutional to community living, including needs assessments and service provision.
  • Innovative, person-centered care models and community support services.
  • Data collection using harmonized standards (e.g., Eurostat) to improve comparability.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must target Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4–6.

Application Process (High-Level)

Single-stage application process. Proposals must be submitted via the Funding & Tenders Portal.

Post-Award Obligations

  • Projects must involve persons with disabilities through representative organizations.
  • Clinical studies (if included) require detailed annex submission.
  • The granting authority may object to ownership transfers or exclusive licensing of results for up to 4 years post-project.

Notes

  • Projects must include social sciences and humanities (SSH) expertise.
  • Use of Copernicus or Galileo/EGNOS data is mandatory if satellite-based services are employed.
  • Complementarity with related Horizon Europe topics is encouraged.
