Funding for projects developing advanced technologies to recover critical raw materials from Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), targeting researchers, businesses, and consortia aiming to enhance recycling rates and reduce reliance on imported materials.

Who Can Apply

Legal entities established in eligible countries, including EU Member States, associated countries, and specified non-EU countries. Consortia of at least three independent legal entities from three different eligible countries are required.

Funding Details

Maximum grant amount: 10,000,000 EUR. Funding is provided as a lump sum, with eligible costs determined by the project proposal and approved budget.

What Is Funded

Development of scalable processes and technologies for collecting, sorting, recovering, and recycling critical raw materials (e.g., rare earth elements, precious metals) from WEEE. Projects may include AI-driven solutions, bio-based or breakthrough technologies, and innovations to improve quality, cost-efficiency, and environmental sustainability of recycled materials. Activities must align with EU policies such as the Critical Raw Materials Act and Circular Economy Action Plan.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must target Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4-6 by the end of the project. Activities may start at any TRL within this range.
