Funding for consortia of cities, mobility providers, and researchers to pilot and scale energy-efficient urban and suburban public transport systems, complemented by shared mobility services, to accelerate climate neutrality in cities.

Who Can Apply

Consortia of at least three lead cities (from different EU Member States or Associated Countries) and three follower cities, including public authorities, public transport operators, mobility service providers, academia, and other relevant stakeholders. At least one lead city must be among the 112 cities selected for the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

Funding Details

Maximum grant amount: 10,000,000 EUR.

What Is Funded

  • Energy efficiency improvements in urban and suburban public transport systems.
  • Integration of shared mobility services (e.g., car fleets, ride-hailing, car sharing, active mobility) with public transport.
  • Development of innovative, sustainable, and user-oriented mobility solutions.
  • Assessment of ecological footprint, air quality impacts, and rebound effects.
  • Policy recommendations, guidance for local authorities, and capacity-building activities.
  • Outreach, dissemination, and training to support replication and upscaling.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must start at TRL 4-6 and achieve TRL 7-8 by the end of the project.
