Overview

Funding for projects developing fire prevention, detection, and mitigation solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) in confined spaces such as parking lots, garages, and ferryboats. Targets researchers, industry, and public bodies addressing EV fire safety risks and public perception.

Who Can Apply

Consortia of legal entities established in eligible countries, including universities, research institutions, SMEs, industry, and public bodies. International collaboration is encouraged.

Funding Details

Maximum grant amount: 13,500,000 EUR. Funding is provided as a lump sum.

What Is Funded

• Development of a European-level database on EV fire accidents.
• Innovative fire detection, prevention, and suppression solutions for confined spaces.
• Standardised fire risk assessments and protocols for EVs during charging and storage.
• Real-time monitoring and early warning systems for thermal runaway.
• Public awareness campaigns and stakeholder engagement platforms.
• Integration with existing safety standards (e.g., ISO, NFPA).

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must target Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4 to 6.

Notes

• Projects must include Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) expertise to enhance societal impact.
• Synergies with the Sustainable Transport Forum and EV TCP Task 49 are expected.
• Use of Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS data is mandatory if satellite-based services are employed.
• Results must be reported to the 2ZERO Partnership for KPI monitoring.
