Overview

Funding for innovative solutions that utilize under-used vertical space in urban environments to create sustainable housing, green spaces, or multifunctional structures. Targets consortia developing and demonstrating circular, participatory, and transdisciplinary approaches to address land use efficiency and affordability.

Who Can Apply

Consortia of legal entities (e.g., research institutions, SMEs, public bodies, NGOs) from eligible countries. Involvement of local communities, cultural and creative industries, and social sciences and humanities (SSH) experts is required.

Funding Details

  • Maximum grant amount: 6,300,000 EUR.
  • Funding is provided as a lump sum.
  • At least 0.8% of the budget must be allocated to engage with the Horizon Europe-funded "New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact."

What Is Funded

  • Development and demonstration of innovative vertical space solutions (e.g., urban vertical farming, rooftop community gardens, vertical extensions) for affordable housing or green spaces.
  • Integration of circularity principles and life cycle impact assessments (environmental, social, economic).
  • Addressing regulatory, technical, and societal barriers to implementation.
  • Participatory and transdisciplinary approaches, including co-creation with local communities.
  • Contribution to urban greening goals under the Nature Restoration Regulation.

  • Technology Readiness Level (TRL): 4 to 6.
