Overview

Funding for projects that develop and demonstrate advanced life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling frameworks integrating circularity strategies for building renovations. Targets research consortia aiming to reduce material flows, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions in net-zero whole-life carbon buildings.

Who Can Apply

Consortia of legal entities established in eligible countries, including research institutions, universities, industry, SMEs, and public bodies. Projects must involve at least three real-life building renovation cases across different climatic regions in Member States or Associated Countries.

Funding Details

Maximum grant amount: 9,400,000 EUR. Funding is provided as a lump sum, with eligible costs determined by the Horizon Europe lump sum model.

What Is Funded

Development of a comprehensive LCA-based modelling framework integrating circularity assessment (cradle-to-cradle system boundary). Application of the framework to at least three real-life building renovations in different climatic regions, incorporating circularity strategies such as reuse, recycling, and at least one of the following: reduce, repair, refurbish, remanufacture, or repurpose. Assessment of embodied and operational emissions across the building life cycle, referencing EN 15978 standards.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must target Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4 to 6.
