Who Can Apply

Funding Details

Maximum grant amount: 5,000,000 EUR. Funding is provided as a lump sum.

Research on:
  • Student and family engagement in citizenship education and democratic culture within schools.
  • Effectiveness of student councils and participatory mechanisms in school decision-making.
  • Role of socio-emotional learning in civic agency development, including coping strategies for civic engagement frustrations.
  • Intersectional approaches to civic engagement, considering gender, ability, and diverse backgrounds.
  • Family involvement in shaping civic identity, with a focus on diverse, marginalized, or migrant communities.
  • Curriculum design and its impact on inclusive civic engagement.
  • Pilots or living labs in schools to test innovative participatory practices.
  • Monitoring and evaluation frameworks for socio-emotional learning in citizenship education.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must operate at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4 to 6.

Notes

Projects must align with the Action Plan on Basic Skills (March 2025), which defines citizenship as a basic skill. Emphasis is placed on schools in marginalized areas or with high migrant populations. Research should integrate existing tools from prior projects on civic participation.
