Funding for research projects exploring the effective, ethical, and inclusive use of artificial intelligence in pre-primary and primary education learning environments. Targets policymakers, educators, parents, and researchers to generate evidence-based insights on AI’s impact on educational performance, teacher support, and youth well-being.

Who Can Apply

Consortia of legal entities (e.g., universities, research institutions, schools, NGOs, public bodies) from eligible countries. Interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships with educational institutions and media literacy organizations are strongly encouraged.

• Maximum grant amount: €5,000,000
• Funding is provided as a lump sum.

What Is Funded

Research on:

• AI’s impact on learning outcomes, teaching methods, and teacher support in pre-primary and primary education.
• Ethical, equity, and inclusion challenges of AI in education, including biases and accessibility for diverse learners.
• Longitudinal studies on cognitive, social, and emotional effects of AI tools.
• Development of actionable guidance for educators on safe and effective AI integration.
• Cost evaluations of AI policy measures or programs.
• Interdisciplinary approaches combining quantitative (e.g., experimental, quasi-experimental) and qualitative methods.

Technology / Maturity Requirements

Projects must target Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4 to 6.
